Sensory Food Aversions: How to Identify and Manage

A Sensory Food Aversion (SFA) is when a child refuses to eat certain foods because of their sensory experience of that food. Children who have sensory issues may have an aversion to things that overstimulate their senses. There is a range when it comes to determining sensory eating disorders from extreme food aversion to the simplest of sensory food preferences. In this workshop, as pediatric feeding therapist, participant will understand some type of feeding difficulty and the strategy to manage sensory food aversion in children to help the child improve their ability to safely eat the least restrictive diet possible.
